What does community architecture look like? Making It Happen: New Community Architecture at The RIBA tells the stories behind four new or reimagined public spaces from around the UK.
The immersive exhibition celebrates how architects and local communities worked together to bring these spaces to life. The four projects included are Hastings Pier by dRMM, Coniston Institute by Grizedale Arts + Hayatsu Architects, Old Manor Park Library by APPARATA and The Lookout by Processcraft.
The design language of the exhibition was inspired by noticeboards, one of the primary ways communities talk to each other. By embracing the restrictions of format and fixings, the story of each project was told in an engaging but accessible way.
